Circulation Services
WCU Library Circulation Desk is staffed during all hours of library operation. Circulation staff is available to answer the questions and help to locate books and other materials in the library, including textbooks and reference collection.
Research and Reference Services
WCU Library provides reference and research assistance primarily to currently enrolled students, faculty and staff. The service options include walk up services during regular library hours at the Reference Desk, service via telephone, email, research consultation appointments and personalized assistance (individual or group consultations) with searching.
The Reference Desk is located in the main Reading Hall on the 1st floor (Rajabli Branch). We are ready to assist WCU students, faculty and staff in person via e-mail, Zoom or Teams call during the academic year.
Research consultations are scheduled in advance to ensure uninterrupted time for the students to consult with a librarian about appropriate resources and strategies for a project or assignment. Research assistance is available during the library open hours.
WCU Reference Services include:
- Assisting students in using collections, online catalog, databases and online resources,
- Assisting in formulating effective research strategies,
- Suggesting appropriate resources,
- Providing quick factual information,
- Providing guidance on citation formats and referencing,
- Determining if the library has access to a particular source of information.
Services not provided include:
- Interpreting the information content found in sources
- Editing or writing documents for students
- Formatting citations

Interlibrary Loan Service
Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery service is one of the important library goals of access to information. The objective of ILL is to build closer cooperation between libraries and the academic communities.
Information resources that are not held in WCU library collections can be requested through Interlibrary Loan service. WCU graduate, post-graduate students and faculty members may use the service. ILL requests are received at library@wcu.edu.az.
Library Instruction Sessions
Library provides a variety of instruction options, including:
- conducting information literacy skills sessions online and in-person,
- providing hands-on research workshops,
- offering research support with online resources.
Please, complete the Library Instruction Request Form to let us know the best format, venue and time for library instruction and information your students need.
NOTE: Library Instruction Sessions should be requested by faculty members 1-2 weeks in advance to tailor the instruction content to the requested class.
- Library Introduction Session
This is our basics session which focuses mostly on searching for information resources in the library catalog. Library services, procedures, code of conduct are discussed as part of a classroom visit. Session duration is approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Research Workshop - Advanced Database Searching & Internet Searching
Sessions cover the information on how to effectively search the databases, scholarly platforms, and evaluate online resources. We will explore the functionality of Boolean operators, additional features, limiters and other search techniques. Sessions last approximately 30 minutes.
- Instruction for a Research Assignments
Specific information resources or databases are explored in relation to the given assignment, information about citation, referencing etc. Sessions last up to 30 minutes. Please, send a topic of the assignment to library@wcu.edu.az.
- Workshops - trainings
Workshops are intended for teachers and people who conduct a scientific research. Bibliometric databases, how to choose quality and appropriate journals, journal metrics and detailed instructions are the main topics of discussion. Seminars are regularly held throughout the academic year.
